Create Residual Income with Candy Vending Machines

uturn
While I was working on the set of a Coors Light commercial the other day, I met a fellow actor who happened to be in the same shot as me. We started talking about ways to make residual income and I told him about my Residuals and Royalties blog and all of the ways I had to make money online. He reciprocated with a venture that he has been doing for a few years now that has created a $450 per month source of residual income with hardly any work. He told me that he owns three candy vending machines and he has agreements with three local stores that allow him to keep these machines at their location for only 10% of the earnings.

He averages $150 per month in residual income per machine! He makes $450 gross and spends about $90 per month actually buying the candy at Costco. ($30 per machine). Time wise, he spends about 10 minutes at each store filling the candy and collecting the money. He is profiting at least $150 to $200 per month in cash! Just think how much he would be earning if he had ten or twenty machines.

He told me that the hard part is actually finding stores that will allow you to put the candy machine at their location and typically you might ask 20 or 30 store managers and only get one store to agree to take your machine. He recommended that I keep my eye out for local stores that have available space and he said that ??mom and pop? stores are usually the most receptive.

I asked him where he bought his machines and he spoke very highly of this company called U-Turn. I checked out their website at it looks like they have some nice equipment – their machines have 8 choices of candy!  Overall, I think this is definitely a source of passive income or residual income that I am going to investigate. I think almost anyone can make money with vending machines.

You can visit U-Turn’s website here: U-Turn Vending

I read about this in a business magazine and have been playing with the idea – according to the gentlemen you met, brought a nice profit.

    Hi Crystal,

Let me know if you have any luck. One thing my friend told me is that he does NOT buy the machines first. He makes up a little flyer with his business name, phone number and a photo of the candy machine. He brings that into the store Manager and then once the Manager agrees – he tells the Manager that the machine will arrive in 3-4 weeks. Then he goes home and orders the machine immediatley. This way you don’t have machines sitting there at your home not making money.

If you pursue this – I would love to hear how you do!

    Good luck!

So have you actually implemented this idea, or was this just a paid post, promoting this vendor?

For more info on vending you could check this site out:

No one has ever paid me to post. But I would be open to accepting payment from someone if the product or service was legit. Hey, I am in this for the money too! I went around to a few places in my town and asked the manager’s if I could put in a machine. I went to the car wash, Discount Tires, an auto body shop and a few other places where people are stuck waiting around. Not one manager was receptive to having me put in a machine. I even offered 10% of the sales and of course they get to write off 2 square feet of space if you donate a percentage of the earnings to a charity. I honestly, could have pursued more locations – but I have a lot on my plate right now. I will check out your blog – it looks very interesting!

I saw an advertisement for a breathalizer machine recently. It dispenses a straw which people can blow into the machine and receive their blood alcohol level.

I think it would work really great in local bars. I bet it would also be a novelty thing, as people would purposely try to get the highest “score”.

On one hand it could be irresponsible but on the other, it could be a great idea to help keep people off the road while drinking.

I bet that would definitely make some cash in local bars! How much are they asking for the machine? I bet I can get a higher score than you Murlu! Haha!

I have owned several candy machines businesses over the last several years.

Placing them is the hardest part but you can hire a placer for about $50 a machine and they secure the locations for you.

Also, I only buy the candy machines used where you can get them for $50 or less.

I just wrote an e-book about starting a candy machine business. Some good information if your looking to get into this business cheap at http://www.candy-machine-business.com .

Hi Doug! Congrats on creating your ebook, hopefully some people will find it through the Residuals and Royalties blog. I did go around to a few different stores in my area, but I had a hard time getting someone to agree to accept a candy machine. Best of luck!
