Earn Residual Income Selling Your Photos on Dreamstime
Another microstock photography website that I have been earning residual income from is Dreamstime. I have about 110 photos uploaded on the Dreamstime website and I average about $40 – $50 per month in earnings. While this may not seem like a lot of money, if you add in the other five or six microstock photography websites that I use, they all combine for a great source of monthly residual income.
I know some of you may be growing tired of all of the microstock photography websites that I am posting, but I want to make sure that people and photographers who are looking for legitimate websites to make money will know which websites are the best. Believe me, I have tried over 15 different microstock photography websites and only a few have gotten results worthy of my time uploading.
Unfortunately, the microstock photography industry as a whole is becoming flooded with photos. Many websites now have millions and millions of photos and I have noticed a slight downward trend in my earnings. This is exactly why you have to create multiple streams of online income and you can never rely on just one source. I am not saying that microstock is not a worthy venture, I am just saying that you are going to have to submit higher quality photos and many of them to actually make some money.
There are people with thousands and thousands of photos in their portfolio, many of whom have very expensive photography equipment and cameras. These photographers have the money to hire models, pay for locations, etc. So you will be competing at a high level. I will continue to post the remaining few microstock photography websites that help me earn residual income and make money online. If any of you have any other microstock photography websites that you recommend, let me know and I will investigate it.

OK- I’m registering, it wants a promo or referral code, you should have yours listed here, I’ll try to find it. I’ll want a little while to submit my registration, DM me on twitter, mrshannigan is my username.
Your website reminds me of myself in a way. I too, have been working on building up income from different streams. A couple of weeks ago I registered with Istock but they have never approved my 3 photos yet. I have bought from Dreamstime for my own site so maybe will try them.
I do have one question that I would appreciated if you could help me with. When I first tried to upload my photos to istock, they were not large enough in their present form. They want 1200 x 1600 pixels. I pulled up the photo in Gimp and changed the pixels and then uploaded then again and they went through. But….They didn’t look as clear to me. Did I do this right? Thanks
Thanks Rhonda! I checked out your blog – some great material there! I wish I could help you with the image sizes, I shoot in large format with 12 megapixel photos. I have never had to make an image larger to get it approved. I do think there is a way to make an image larger in Photoshop without losing quality – I think you simply adjust the “canvas size” but I am not for certain. If your images are losing clarity or you are seeing graininess, I’d be surprised if they got accepted. You should also submit to Shutterstock, they are my #1 earner and they are much less stringent about accepting photos. Best of luck to you!
MJ
Thanks MJ. I”ll try shutterstock and see if my camera can shoot larger photos. Love the blog. Just hearing how someone else is moving along day by day is helpful.
