Make Money Online Writing for Examiner

make money online - examiner

While browsing the forums in many online writing communities, I have found a lot of writers who have had success writing for Examiner.com.  Examiner.com offers hundreds of topics and these topics are available in almost every major city.  So if you want to write for them, it’s obviously a good idea to choose a topic that you are comfortable with.  In order to make money online with Examiner.com – you have to attract enough unique visitors (or hits) to your various articles.  Be it through online marketing or SEO, traffic is the key to success.

Examiners are required to write at least three articles per week on their assigned topic.  Not only will you have to apply to become a writer for Examiner.com – you will have to pass a background check and an indentity verification.   This is what separates Examiner.com from websites like eHow.  Anyone can write for eHow, but only select writers who live close to a major metropolotian city will be accepted by Examiner.  Examiner pays their writers via PayPal and once  they hit the minimum required payout – writers are paid once a month.

Examiner.com states that it’s highest earning writer actually makes about $8,000 a month – which would equate to 800,000 page views.  (This writer may also make money from referring other writers to Examiner.com – they have a great referal program!)  I actually think that writing for Examiner might pay more per article than eHow – but you have to be committed to writing on a consistent basis.  I’d love to hear from some of my readers exactly how much you earn with Examiner.com – it seems like a great source of residual income!

I write for Examiner, with two national topics. It’s one of my best money makers online. One of the major benefits is that they don’t want long articles. They want just 200-400 words for the most part.

Another major benefit is that they provide you with free access to Associated Press photos. That’s a huge benefit because it can be hard to get photos of sports stars, celebrities, events, etc. without otherwise infringing on copyright.

I don’t make $8,000 per month, by any means, but I certainly do well enough to write there almost daily. WELL worth the minimal effort.

That’s good to hear Annalise! 200 -400 words is right up my alley. I assume that you can only use those AP photos for Examiner articles? I read that $8,000 was the top earning writer for the Examiner – so I doubt many people make close to that! Good luck with all of your writing endeavors!

I write for the Examiner as well. It definitely depends on what topic you choose and how much you write about it. Some topics make more than others, but I enjoy writing for them. Some channels have an active channel community where you can chat with fellow writers within your channel. Also, there’s more prestige that goes with it. For example, I’ve had people from hostels to Madison Square Garden Entertainment ask me for articles :) .

Yes, I have noticed that some of the topics are very focused topics that might not garner alot of readers. Obviously, the more broad the topic – the better you will do on Examiner. Thanks for the info!

I write for examiner and I love it! I make around 3000 a month! But, I also know how to SEO and a few other little tricks I’ve picked up along the way…Add that to what I make writing for another site which I also love and I am currently making about 5000 a month. But, it takes a lot of dedication and hard work! Good luck!

Wow! Those are some amazing monthly totals! Congratulations of your success! Feel free to post a link to your Examiner page so we can get a look at some of your work. How many articles are you writing a month to reach those figures? Thanks for the info.
