Make Money Online Selling Your Artwork on RedBubble

If you are an illustrator looking for an additional way to make money with your artwork, RedBubble might be the perfect website for you. Similar to Zazzle, you can upload your artwork on RedBubble and create a variety of items for sale. Wall art, designer tee shirts, posters and greeting cards are just of few of the items that you can create.
While perusing RedBubble, I noticed that the focus seems to be more fine art based then commercial images. You might classify RedBubble as a “high-end Zazzle” – where a community of artists share some of their best work. There are also many photographers who upload their images on RedBubble products. This can be a great way to make money online with your images – especially if you are a stock photographer who’s sales have been declining due to the large influx of images on the microstock photo websites.
Just like Zazzle, RedBubble charges a base price for each particular item and then you get to decide how much you want to mark-up the price. Obviously, the higher the mark-up – the more you will earn on a given sale. The best idea would be to create a large gallery of your artwork and market your gallery as much as possible.
To be successful on RedBubble it’s best to only upload your best work. Potential customers don’t want to go through twenty pages of your gallery to find what they want. Like I said, RedBubble is known as a high end online art gallery and your work should reflect this. Know your target demographic and do your research when creating items for sale. The fact is, your items won’t sell themselves on RedBubble – YOU have to market your gallery and create some buzz about your artwork.
RedBubble pays via PayPal on the 7th day of the month and they have a payout threshold of only $20, which is nice. If you choose a check payment – you’ll have to wait until you have earned $100 to get a payout. If any of my readers have had success with RedBubble, I would love to hear about your earnings or the potential earnings that can be made on this website.

Hey Mike! I’m going to check into this…thanks! Showing some of my work this weekend in an LA group show!
Hey Jamia! It’s good to hear from you. I checked out your blog – it looks great! There’s some nice artwork on there and some cool clothing. Yes, I think RedBubble would be right up your alley! Have you had any luck on Etsy?

I have been on Redbubble for about a month, albeit, a short time, but one of my pics recieved 314 hits and yet, no purchase. I’m beginning to wonder what it takes to actually make a sale. Great review, by the way.
Thanks for letting us know – I hope you get a sale soon! Do you have any other websites that you have had luck getting sales on? If so, I’d love to hear about them.

I was in redbubble for 2 years (i just cancel my account). During my tertulia there I sold…. zero pieces. And that was a good thing.
So let me explain this a little more.
sold zero… redbubble does not advertise to attract custumers, only other artists wanting to sale not to buy.
that was a good thing… because redbubble makes the money. they charge high prices to sellers, and you are force to add a small mark-up, so let’s say u add a 20% on your cards (around 30¢ profit) how many do you need to sell to reach the $20 cut ( if you use paypal) can you sit and wait until you reach $100?
I sell many, many pieces online, and using redbubble is a waste of time.
Hi — sorry about your bad experience with RedBubble. When you said “I sell many, many pieces online” — what website do you use to sell all of these? Thanks for letting my readers know about your experience with RedBubble.

how does the payment method work, like do artist get a certain % of the cost item of their work for lets say.. a t-shirt?
