Make Money Online as a Voiceover Talent on Voices.com
For those voiceover artists looking for ways to make money online, I recently did a post about Voice123. Voice123 is a website that allows production companies, radio stations and other people in need of voiceover talent to post their projects online and receive auditions from hundreds of quality voiceover talent. I have a friend who makes some great monthly income on Voice123 and he has a very high booking ratio. The only downside to Voice123 is the fact that you have to pay $295 for the entire year. This may be a big pill to swallow for those who want to simply test the waters to see if they have the skills to actually book some gigs.
If you have wanted to try your hand at online voiceover work but you don’t want to fork over a cool three hundred bucks – you may want to consider Voices.com. This website is similar to Voice123, but they only charge you a monthly fee to join. This way you can try and submit to some projects for one month without being locked in to a whole year’s fee. Should you succeed in your first month, you can continue to pursue work on Voices.com. But if you don’t get any jobs you can simply cancel your monthly subscription without any penalty.
You can join Voices.com for only $29 a month and booking one gig will more than pay for this cost. Voices.com does not take any percentage out of the jobs that you book. If you don’t already have one, you will have to invest in a microphone. It’s a good idea to get a USB condensor mic and simply plug it into your computer.
Once you have your microphone you can download the free Audacity software online and you will then have your own home studio. To create your own sound booth you can simply go inside a closet full of clothes and set up your computer and mic. Be sure that there is no background noise and keep the microphone on a stable platform while you speak into it. Don’t be afraid to record multiple takes of your audition – Audacity will let you delete and re-record with the click of a mouse. Once you have your completed audtion you can simply export it as an Mp3 file and upload it onto Voices.com. From there you will submit it to the client and hope for the best.
Don’t be surprised if, after some auditions you get no response - in most cases the client will only respond to the voiceover talent that he or she has chosen for the project. Remember that you may have to submit to 20 projects before booking a gig.

I have been looking for a review about voices.com for I have been subscribing to them for some time attempting to get work. I have been in the business for years, but yet haven’t gotten one gig yet through them. I’m just wondering when to stop! Anyone had this problem?
For three years I have worked for Voices.com and Voice 123. Six days a week I work at the computer and record 25 to 50 auditions a week. To date not one has been accepted. A lack of talent on my part, perhaps. However, I am a former Broadcast Journalist and News Director. I was the head writer and voice over talent for a film production company and the creator of Voice over Voice commercials. I have reviewed the work of others on the sites and believe my work is by far superior. Since I have extensively worked in the field of voice I find it strange that not one of thousands of auditions has been accepted. I hope my feelings are merely sour grapes and that I am not the victim of fraud or something more sinister. I would be interested in other views. Thank you
