Make Money Online Writing for Break Studios

make money online - break studiosIf I have one online addiction, it would be my time spent each day on Break.com.  If you have never visited Break – you should put aside some time and check it out.  While I will say that their website is geared more towards a male audience, anyone can find enjoyment in the thousands of funny videos on Break.  Each day a new lot of videos go live on Break’s homepage and many of these videos consist of people falling, getting hurt or doing stupid  things.  I’m not sure why this is so funny – but it’s usually hysterical!  If someone went through the millions of videos on YouTube and only selected the funniest videos and put them on a website - this website would be Break.com.

The same people who brought us Break.com have now added a writing division called “Break Studios” and I just put in my application with them.  I looked at most of the available topics and many of them are geared towards men and men’s issues.  I am not sure if many women would want to write for Break Studios – but if they did “relationships” looked like a big category when I was signing up.

At this point I don’t know how many articles are available to claim or how long these articles are expected to be.  I also don’t know what Break Studios is currently paying their authors.  Hopefully, if I am accepted – I will be able to provide more details.  If any of my readers currently write for Break Studios – please let us know approximately how much you earn per article and how many topics are available to claim.  Hopefully, this will wind up being a good way for freelance writers to make money online!

I think the jury is still out on Break Studios – I have had too much going on to try and write anything for them. Hopefully, one of my readers who writes for Break Studios will comment and let us know their feedback and earnings results. If you try it, please come back and let us know how you did and how much they pay per article.

    Thanks,

    MJ

I’ve been doing it for a couple of weeks and have had only one article accepted (I’ve only written one article. Kind of wanted to test the waters, you see).

They pay $8.00 for an article of 250-700 words. The one I had accepted was about 300 words. It took a few days for the article to be edited. As I said I haven’t been with them long enough to receive a paycheck, but so far so good. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I joined Break Studios a few weeks ago (writing mostly health articles – perfect choice for the hypochondriac), but I haven’t gotten paid yet because…well…I’m a little bit iffy about giving them my SSN, which they need in order to pay the writers. I don’t know how legitimate their site is. But yes, the pay is $8 per article, with a 250 word minimum and a 700 word maximum. Some have deadlines, and some do not.

The only downside is you can only work on a maximum of 5 articles at a time. There are loads and loads of articles I would love to work on just in the health section, but I can’t because of the article limit. I asked them why there was a limit and I never got a response. They also take quite a long time to review submitted work.

Thank you for giving us some info on Break Studios! Many of us were wondering about them. I would not be too worried about giving them your SSN – Break has been around for a while, I doubt you will have a problem. Has the work you have submitted been accepted already?

    MJWolfe,

Thanks very much for letting me know that Break is most likely not a shady place looking for suckers (I personally had never heard of it until I found out they were looking for writers). As far as stuff being accepted, I’ve gotten three articles approved that are now awaiting publication. I’ll let you know when and if I get paid for my work.

Sweet – let us know how much they pay you for those three articles! Hopefully, they will all get published.

My girlfriend and I both write for break studios. She’s been paid for about half of her submissions already, I’ve been paid for none of mine yet (but that’s because I didn’t get around to writing about them until recently).

Now they let you claim up to ten articles, and my girlfriend says they’re getting quicker with approving articles every time she submits a batch.

The reason break was taking so long to approve articles earlier this month and last month was because their writing division has just started. As time goes on, they hire more and more editors to edit submissions. Their goal, apparently, is to get to a turnaround time of 24 hours.

So far, break is legit. I have no complaints, and neither does my girlfriend. But hey, if they get their turnaround time to 24 hours, that potentially means that one could earn 80 bucks a day writing for them. Maybe that doesn’t cut it for some people, but for a couple of college students, 80 bucks a day is a pretty good deal.

Oh yeah, and their editors are very nice. Expect your first few articles to be returned to you for edits, but once you get the hang of writing for them, fewer and fewer articles get returned for edits.

    Hope this helped!

Thanks for letting us know! Combined the two of you can make $160 a day! That’s a lot of Ramen noodles. (Haha, sorry – college joke!) Seriously though, I appreciate your feedback, I may have to get off my butt and start submitting some Break articles. 24 hours would be an amazing turn around time, many of my articles sit for a whole week on other content websites before getting looked at. Best of luck to you and your girlfriend.

I’m finding that Break rejects articles for sometimes vague reasons. Often times, the reasons for rejection are, “Read our guidelines.” First of all, there are several sets of guidelines…keyword, submission, and guidelines for each type of article. They do not specify sometimes. They also often will not come out and say what *exactly* the problem is, so I just have to kind of guess.

The first few times, I realized there were some formatting errors that caused rejections. But I’m finding I’m getting certain articles rejected that seem to follow all Break’s guidelines. I just kind of wish they’d say up-front what’s wrong rather than pussy-footing around and trying to make the writer guess. I agree, the editors are very nice, but I really need to know what the problems are with my articles in order to fix them to the editors’ preferences. I emailed them about this…let’s see if they respond to me this time.

Other than that, not too bad yet. I have been paid for one whole article so far. And the 24-hour turnaround time sounds great; I don’t like waiting a week to be told the article was rejected, and then waiting another week to find out whether or not it was accepted or rejected a second time.

I hope they start giving feedback so that you can make the necessary adjustments and resubmit those articles. Thank you so much for keeping us posted on Break Studios and how it all works!

I’ve been writing for Break since early February. They have paid me for three articles via PayPal. I’ve written about 12 others, and most of them have been approved, but I haven’t been paid yet. They do require rewrites if you don’t follow their formula exactly. Break now allows you to claim ten articles at a time. They are kind of slow with the edits, and the three articles they paid me for haven’t appeared on the site yet. I’m being patient because they seem to be going through growing pains.

The site is mainly for men, but there are all kinds of things to write about in the content pool. I’ve written about health issues such as liver disease and OCD, a travel article about South Dakota, career articles, and an article about what to order in a Japanese Restaurant.

Thanks for the info Lori! It appears that Break is becoming a good place for writers to make some decent cash. This reminds me of Demand Studios when it first started out. Hope you get paid for your other articles soon! Keep us posted on how things progress with Break Studios.
