Trying to Improve My Search Engine Rankings with Link Wheeler

make money online - linkwheelerYou may have seen my prior post a while back entitled Google SEO Experiment – Make Money Online.  If you read this post, you will see how I was able to go from page 39 of Google to page 8 for the term “make money online“.  I have been working hard trying to get the Residuals and Royalties blog ranked even higher in the search engines.  The last few months I have been using articleranks.com to try and increase the number of backlinks to my blog.  While I have created a ton of backlinks, many of these are from low PR websites or blogs with rankings of 0 or 1.  I was able to make a significant jump in the search engines by simply using articleranks.com – but I am not nearly as highly ranked as I want to be.  I recently decided to try another approach.  I have been researching various SEO programs and I stumbled upon linkwheeler.com.

Linkwheeler.com is different than other SEO programs and to tell you the truth I don’t understand exactly how it all works.  They will be creating an in-depth “link wheel” for me with multiple links to my blog.  I do know that I will be getting inbound links from sites with PR rankings of 4 to 9.  I am hoping this helps me get to where I need to be in Google’s rankings.  If this system fails, I am pretty much done with paying for backlinks – I will simply create them on my own.

I opted for Link Wheeler’s Gold package which includes the following…

Link Wheel Gold Package – 52 Total Backlinks Created – $229

30 Web 2.0 Properties with 30 Unique Articles of 200+ Words (PR 4 – PR 9)
15 Article Submissions with 15 Unique Articles of 200+ Words
6 Blog Posts with 6 Unique Articles of 200+ Words – All unique IP’s
1 Custom Video (Uploaded to YouTube.com & used across the link wheel)
RSS / Feed Submission to 100+ ping list
Up to 4 Keywords / 4 URLs

I have chosen four keywords: make money online, residual income, paid online surveys – these will all link to the Residuals and Royalties blog.  I have also chosen the keyword “how to start a limousine business” which will link to my ebook landing page.  I am currently on page 8 of Google for “make money online” and at the top of page 2 for “residual income”.  I expect to be at the top of page 1 for “residual income” after this experiment.  Anything less would be unsatisfactory.

As far as the term “make money online” goes, I cannot expect linkwheeler to magically get me to the top of page 1 on Google for this very difficult search term.  I would be satisfied simply winding up on page 3.   Only time will tell if linkwheeler is able to achieve these goals for me.  For now I cannot recommend linkwheeler to any of my readers since I don’t know what the results will be.  I will post my current Google rankings today and then I will post my improvements in two weeks, one month and in two months.  So you can consider this review of linkwheeler.com a work in progress for now.

Target Term                Currently          2 Weeks          1 Month        2 Months

make money online          Page 8         Page 2

residual income                Page 2          Page 1

***UPDATE: LinkWheeler WORKS!!!  I am on page 2 for “make money online” and page 1 for “residual income.”***

    Hey Michael,

I’ve never heard of Link Wheller but I have read that videos (youtube) get ranked quick and high. Try searching a celeb and see how many videos come up from Youtube alone.

I’m planning on going down this path very, very soon. It’d be interesting to shoot a couple and see what happens.

Please update us in a couple of months, as I’m trying to do something similar.

    Hey Mike,
I just wanted to let you know that I absolutely love your site. Every couple of days I can come to this website and I know that I will find a new opportunity in order to make a little extra cash. Before your site I was a struggling nursing student and now I can afford to stay home. You ROCK! God Bless. Jess

Moon — You are right about the videos! If this purchase results in enough additional traffic for me to attract private advertisers — then it will be totally worth it. Only time will tell! Let us know what SEO service you use, if you decide to hire one.

Hi Jess! Glad my site was able to help you out. I wish I was able to afford to stay home! What sites are you having the most luck with? God bless!

I don’t think it’s a scam. It probably does exactly what they say it does. I’m just concerned that Google might see this kind of activity as Black Hat SEO. I haven’t heard anything like that though. I’m just wary of automated systems. is this an automated article submission system (like a spinner) or do you have to write that many unique articles?

Hi George – I don’t think it’s a scam either. (Otherwise I would not have spent $229!) I don’t think LinkWheeler spins the articles, I actually think that their website states that each article submitted is unique content. I don’t have to write any articles for them, LinkWheeler will have them written for me. It takes 10 days for all of my links to be posted, so check back in a few weeks to see my progress. I have a suspicion that John Chow has been using LinkWheeler, because he was never on page 1 for the term “make money online” – and then I noticed that he was heavily advertising LinkWheeler and coincidentally, a few weeks later John Chow’s blog was on page 1 for that term.

I wish you good luck for this. You must pray that no other blogger/web master has hired link wheeler to rank well for the term “make money online”.
After all it’s searched more than 400000 times a month. They must have many more candidates for this keyword.

By the way, after paying them, do they guarantee any particular position for a keyword or they say that “it all depends how lucky you are!!!”

  8. George185 17 March 2010 at 12:25 pm #

It’s not really luck. I’m sure every client gets the same amount of attention. The deciding factor will be how much more promotion you are doing outside of the link wheel and how Google views your site.

  9. MJ Wolfe 17 March 2010 at 1:45 pm #

No Saad – they don’t guarantee any positions, but I know that very few people make it to page 7 for the term “make money online”. I am guessing you’d have to be on at least page 3 to get a chunk of the searchers to visit your website. I was showing 1.2 million monthly searches for “make money online” – where did you see 400,000? From what I know — it’s a very competitive keyword!

George, what type of promotion do you reccommend? Have you had any luck getting ranked for “make money on the web”? Thanks for your input!

Well, with make money on the web I just started really pushing it a couple weeks ago. I ranked 1.9 million in Alexa now so I am not really in the position to hand out marketing advice. I have done a lot of research and tested some of the spinner systems on other projects and haven’t received too many results. I am trying to build a decent PR to make my anchor text really work for me right now.

    Hey Mike
I’m doing a couple of different things actually, so it’s not just one thing bringing me in money. My husband and I both sell photography online at a couple of different site and that’s good income and I also do a lot of writing, a lot of writing. I tried cashcrate, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea, but I also work for a company called ticket puller where you get tickets for certain events and concert and you are so great with referring people I think they have a referral program as well.

  13. JessF 19 March 2010 at 10:46 am #

Oh by the way, I’m really wanting to get into blogging. I read the grizzly blog that you recommended and you are right, it’s really great stuff. Just wondering if you had any more advice for blogging?

  14. MJ Wolfe 19 March 2010 at 3:31 pm #

Nice photography and writing – that’s right up my alley! I joined Ticket Puller and I even did a post on it, but I never actually completed a ticket pulling session. I may have to look into that again. Good luck to you and your husband!

As far as blogging goes it’s all about traffic – if you don’t have the traffic you won’t make any money. This blog had an Alexa ranking of over 800,000 on February 1st of 2010 and it has skyrocketed to 60,000 in less than two months. This is a good ranking, but I am noticing that many of the bloggers that get paid from private advertisers have an Alexa ranking of 50,000 or better. Hopefully, I will be there soon. Traffic equates to money and peope signing up through your referrals like Constant Content, Shutterstock, Dreamstime, CashCrate, etc. Let me know if you start a blog – I’d love to see it!

    Michael,

I’m looking forward to how your experiment turns out. I really have to commend you, your hard work is starting to pay off. I’m trying to step up the pace myself.

    Good luck.

Thanks Katherine – I am hoping for good results, I just got an email from LinkWheeler stating that my link submissions should be complete within a day or so. Best of luck with all of your online endeavors!

    Hi Michael,

Excellent site, you have alot of really good information on here! I just wanted to see if you could provide an update on your link wheeler experience. I have 2 sites that i have been promoting that bring in residual income and I would like to know if link wheeler might push me a bit past the competition on a few specific keywords. Thanks for the update, keep up the good work

  19. MJ Wolfe 8 June 2010 at 4:27 am #

Hi Robert – yes, Link Wheelers initial push was amazing – I really shot up the rankings as my link wheel was live. But since then, no real movement. I think you might need multiple link wheels to accomplish this. Let us know if you try it!
