I just signed up with Live Person a few weeks ago and I think it is a great source of residual income for those who have a special skill or subject they have mastered.

Whether you are a teacher, counselor, mechanic, doctor, pastor, computer geek or psychic – Live Person is a great way to make money online while helping others. LivePerson is a way for those who need specific help to locate an expert with the knowledge they desire.

Let’s say someone needs help setting up their wireless router in their home – they can go on LivePerson and hire a computer expert from the list of many qualified individuals. Each expert can set his/her own price per minute and the prices range from .50 cents per minute to 9.99 per minute. So if you are a computer expert – this could be a great way to earn residual income right in the comfort of your own home.

Just create an account on Live Person and be very specific about your skills. Make your profile stand out by letting potential customers know exactly what qualifications that you have. Upload your photo – an actual photo of yourself is more apt to gain business than a logo or artwork.

Once you have completed this, you will have to wait a day or two while your profile is approved by the fine folks at LivePerson. One word of warning – choose your category wisely as you cannot add some additional categories once you have selected your main category.

I signed up as an acting expert and I honestly don’t get that much traffic.  I noticed that the psychics have a ton of reviews on their profiles, some psychics had thousands of reviews. I decided to test the system and sign up as a psychic – but Live Person would not let me because I already chose my category and “spirituality” was a completely different category set.

So I made a separate account with a different name and address, I didn’t care about getting paid out – I just wanted to get an idea of how much traffic these psychics were getting. Once my psychic account was approved, I set my price at .50 cents per minute and I was amazed that literally every five minutes I was getting a pop up request for advice.  This alone tells you that the psychics are making great residual income!

Of course, I did not answer any of these requests – since I am not a psychic – I simply closed my account and my test was complete. But I did discover that this test shows that there are definitely categories that get much more traffic on Live Person.

So make sure you do your research before choosing your topic, especially if you feel that you have multiple areas of expertise. If you are able to choose a high traffic category then Live Person can create an excellent source of residual income for you.

Have you ever wondered “how can I share my expertise online?” or “can I get paid to make instructional videos?” Well the answer is “yes” – if you have a subject that you consider yourself an expert in or you know well enough to actually give lessons or instruct other people through “how to” videos, then you should look into ExpertVillage. Expert village is a website that allows “experts” in various fields and topics to post videos that instruct viewers in a with a simple, effective video. These videos are all produced by expert village filmmakers which keeps the quality of the footage at a high level.

If you want to share your skills with the world and make money online, the first step would be to write a short script or organize your thoughts on exactly what you will say when the cameras are rolling. Try to pick a topic that will interest others and attract them to view your videos.

The only drawback I am finding personally with Expert Village is the fact that their website does not have the “sign up to be an expert link” anywhere. I found the link in the FAQ’s page on the website – but it just kicks me back to the Expert Village’s homepage. This is frustrating to me because I actually want to shoot some videos, yet I cannot figure out how to do it. I also tried emailing expert@expertvillage.com twice now and the email failed to send. I am not sure if the website is undergoing maintenance or if they are not accepting new experts at this time. If you have trouble with Expert Village as well, then you should look into becoming an expert for Live Person. (Check my previous posting about Live Person.)

Any advice on how to “become an expert” for Expert Village would be greatly appreciated! Also, if anyone knows how much you get paid for producing these videos, please advise…
